Alright, well this blog is the last possible thing I want to do today considering the circumstances that occured this morning. But it needs to get done so here we go.
This picture definetely reinforces black stereotypes BUT Tiger Woods agreed to do it. As long as African-Americans keep agreeing to take this photos and play similiar roles in movies, this stereotype will stay alive. So in my opinion, this is something we should not be talking about at all! Honestly.
It's the same thing when it comes to woman that are protrayed in the media. If they keep allowing themselves to be portrayed as "things" or sexual objects, their steretype will not change. That's up to them. Not us. So let's stop having this discussion.
I'd also like to make sure everyone knows that Tiger Woods should not be bomabarded with all these bombs that the bomb-dropping media lays on him. He cheated on his wife. Like 76.98% of marriages aren't loyal. But just because he's a celebrity, his private life is no longer that.
Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer whoever lived and his adultetry won't change that. He is not a "thug." He's "currently" married to a white woman and he has like 97 fafillion dollars. Yes, this picture reiterates black stereotypes, but he agreed to take this photo.

This wont last. You said it well in your post, Justin, Tiger is still the best golfer alive (ever?) Depsite this knock to his public image, he will be back for a few more championships.

ReplyDeleteBut even though Tiger is one of the biggest sports stars in the world, I dont think he should have to have to live up to other people expectations.It's not really any of our business that he cheated on his wife. Just because the media constantly follows him, he shouldn't in turn have to act any differently because now there are kids looking up to him.
